The surname Schaubert represents a "mitteldeutsch" (Central German) variant of the name Schubert, and its presence in German territories dates back to the Middle Ages: a Taugvitzius Schaubert is recorded as early as 1349 in Merseburg, while in the sixteenth century appear Johann Schaubert, pastor in Bischofsheim in 1557, and Kaspar Schaubert, Stallmeister (stable master) and poet in 1572.
