La famiglia Suardi di Bergamo, grande fino dal Medio Evo "Magna Suardorum Domus", può narrare e dimostrare le origini e le vicende luminose della sua nobiltà millenaria, non solo perchè possiede antichi e ben forniti archivi, ma anche perchè ha avuto la fortuna meritata di trovare nel sec. XVIII due ben degni storici, cioè il canonico Mario Lupo, il più insigne storico bergamasco, autore del Codice Diplomatico della Chiesa di Bergamo, ed il conte Giuseppe Ercole Mozzi, lo "Scrutator Antiquitatum", maestro delle ricerche archivistiche, particolarmente di quelle genealogiche. Il Lupo ha compilato un'opera in tre volumi, intitolata "Genealogia della famiglia S. di Bergamo". E' rimasta inedita; una copia fedele si conserva nella Biblioteca Civica di Bergamo. Contiene alberi genealogici coi relativi documenti che illustrano la prima origine della famiglia e quella di cinque diramazioni; poi tutta la discendenza dei Leonini estinta nei conti Marenzi verso la metà del secolo scorso. ...
