Rietstap scrive: Famiglia d'origine ungherese da nome di Sigray di Felso-Also-Suranyy, proveniente dalla famiglia Asinarida San mariano, per alleanza, conti di Sigray, in Austria, 23 ott. 1867; conti ereditari il 21 mag. 1893 e 23 lug.1893. Arma confermat con le lettere del 23 lug. 1893 (annuario 1904). Uno tra i più eminenti araldisti Italiani, G.B. di Crollalanza, scrive: Questa famiglia ha per autore Giuseppe (nato a Pereszuye (Ungheria), 27 giugno 1842; deced. a Kaltenleutgeben, 22 luglio 1898), di Ermolao, che divenne dopo il 1867 suddito austriaco ed assunse, con licenza imperiale, confermata in Italia, il cognome attuale. Ritornato cittadino italiano per R.D. 27 sett. 1885, fu creato conte con R.D. 21 maggio 1893 e RR. LL. PP. 23 luglio successivo. Giuseppe aveva sposato (1867) Luisa Maria Felicita, e da queste nozze nacquero: Alessandro (nato a Vienna, 18 dicembre 1869), il quale sposò (1895) Anna, di Bernardo Fontana, Giuseppe Maria (nato a Vienna, 19 marzo 1871), il quale sposo (1897) Gabriella Figarolo di Gropello, Brittanio (nato a Torino, 20 aprile 1872; deced. Vische, I° giugno 1913), il quale sposò (1897) Maria dei marchesi Gavotti, e Anna (nata a Venezia, 21 marzo 1886). Figli di Giuseppe Maria sono: Luigi Gabriele (nato a Mazzè, 27 luglio 1898) Maria Josè (nata a Mazzè, 21 aprile 1900), Chiara (nata a Mazzè, 8 luglio 1903), Anna Maria (nata il 6 novembre 1904) e Pia (nata il 22 agosto 1911). Figli di Brittanio sono: Carola (nata a Genova, 28 agosto 1899), Giuseppe (1904-1911), Luisa e Raffaella (gemelle) (n. a Vische, 22 gennaio 1904), Brittania (nata il 19 marzo 1905); Alessandra (nata il 19 novembre 1911). ...
