Nobilissimo ed assai antico casato toscano, oriundo da Gubbio, i cui rami si trapiantarono in molte città italiane, come Forlimpopoli, Brisighella, Bologna e Roma, Verona, Faenza, Lucca, Pistoia, Macerata, Pesaro, Rieti, Spoleto, Ruvo di Puglia, godendo sempre dei massimi privilegi, associati al loro ceto.
