Nobility crown SpiniLa famiglia ebbe origine e cognome da Spino, paesello della Valle Brembana; ma si trasferì ad Albino nella Valle Seriana, dove, particolarmente coll'industria e col commercio della lana e della seta, si arricchì e costruì una roggia che ancor oggi si denomina Roggia. E' ben noto a Bergamo Pietro Spino, figlio di Pellegrino (13 ottobre 1503-10 aprile 1525). Per molti anni fu tra gli anziani del Comune di Bergamo; scrisse poesie anche in dialetto e pubblicò, nel 1569, la vita di Bartolomeo Colleoni (Venezia, Percaccino; ristampata a Bergamo dal Santini, 1732, ed a Trieste da Colombo-Coen, 1859). Suo figlio Marcantonio ne compose la biografia, della quale trovasi copia manoscritta nella Biblioteca Civica, ricavata dall'originale che era nella libreria del conte Giacomo Carrara. Altra copia ne trasse il padre Barnaba Varini e se ne giovò per la sua opera sugli Scrittori di Bergamo. Un bel ritratto di Pietro Spino si conserva ...
