Il commendator G.B. di Crollalanza riporta la blasonatura di questa famiglia nei volumi del suo Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane. Come riferisce "Il Giornale Araldico Genealogico Diplomatico", stampato in Pisa presso la direzione di Rocca San Casciano, nella tipografia Cappelli nel 1873-89 al volume 16. Il variare gli antichi cognomi, fu generato nella credenza degli huomini qualche dubbiezza circa l'unità, e l'essenza delle famiglie; onde poi in processo di tempo è stato necessario il disputarla ne' pubblici Tribunali per far costare la verità del fatto, come oggi appunto è successo a questa nobilissima, e antichissima famiglia, la quale essendo stata ben ventilata, si è provato in fine che i più lontani accenni alla stirpe si trovano nelle Marche.
