Nobility crown TavarEste apellido, de Navarra, es originario del lugar de Tabar (cuyo nombre tomó), del Ayuntamiento de Urraúl Bajo, y partido de Aoiz. Tuvo casa en la villa de Lerín, del partido de Estella. En 1775 y 1776, varios individuos de dicha casa fueron reconocidos como nobles por la Real Audiencia de Pamplona. Según la Nobleza Executoriada de Navarra tiene estas armas: "Un escudito, y en él, un árbol, que parece palma, y sobre éste, o cruzándole, a manera que salen del mismo escudito, dos llaves cruzadas, y sobre éstas, una Tiara Pontificia". La misma Nobleza Executoriada de Navarra dice en otro lugar: El escudo es dos cuarteles; en el primero, un árbol de palma y, sobre él, dos llaves cruzadas, y sobre éstas, una Tiara Pontificia; en el segundo, una banda, en bocas de dragones, acompañada en lo alto de un menguante ranversado, y en lo bajo, de una estrella. Según Carlos de Guerra: De gules, con una banda de oro y tres lobos de sable, andantes, que trepan por ella. ...
