Famiglia di cui si hanno memorie in varie città, e fra le altre a Bergamo, ove venne aggregata a quel patriziato nel 1450 e ricevuta nel 1711 nell'ordine di Malta. Nel 1316 la Bonazzi emigró in Sicilia per le discordie tre Guelfi e Ghibellini, con le altre famiglie Abrignano, Abiosi, Anastasi, Albani, Alberici, Bensai, Bonamici, Blasi, Federichi, Girella, Gennaia, Donati, Durante, Leonardi, Maggi, Marini, Palentana, Raisi e Signorelli. Sedate le discordie la Bonazzi passó in Bergamo d'onde si diramó in Guastalla ed in Toscana, e nel secolo XVI un ramo andó a stabilirsi in Bari, ottenne nel 1623 il grado di cavaliere aurato con l'annesso titolo di conte palatino, l'aggregazione a quella nobiltà nel 1749, e l'ascrizione al Reg. P. Ch. del regno nel 1806. Succeduta nel 1818 alla famiglia Piccolo o Pizzoli, che tenne la terra di Sannicandro sin dai tempi Aragonesi, venne con Regio Decreto 5 luglio 1882, ...
