Nobility crown TupputiLa nobile Famiglia Tupputi, di antica e illustre origine lombarda, trasferitasi dapprima a Napoli, si stabilì successivamente in Andria e infine in Bisceglie. Essa fu insignita del titolo marchionale sin dall’anno 1579, per munifico decreto di Sua Maestà il Re Filippo II, a favore del nobiluomo Don Tommaso, e tale dignità fu solennemente riconosciuta dalla Real Camera di Santa Chiara nell’anno 1785, nonché confermata con Regio Rescritto in data 11 aprile 1840. Tra i suoi più insigni rappresentanti si annovera il generale di cavalleria marchese Ottavio Tappati, nato il 18 settembre 1798 e spentosi il 7 gennaio 1865, il quale si distinse in numerosi teatri di guerra. Egli combatté con onore nella battaglia di Jena e nelle campagne che condussero alla pace di Tilsitt; prese altresì parte alle operazioni militari in Spagna e in Russia. In quest’ultima, inviato in missione ricognitiva, rinvenne un reggimento tedesco dato per disperso, ne assunse il comando e lo ricondusse in salvo, respingendo l’avversario sulla linea del fuoco.
