La famiglia Agostini è ricordata nei documenti pisani fino dal XIII secolo, e nel 1644 dette un Priore alla Repubblica nella persona di Antonio di Nanni. In essa si estinsero rami delle nobili famiglie dei Fantini. Grassi, Della Seta e Venerosi, di cui Agostini volta a volta aggiunsero il cognome e inquartarono lo stemma. Hanno avuto cavalieri di S. Stefano, cominciando da Onorato di Lodovico, che vestì l'abito nel 1601. Nel 1745 Cosimo di Andrea, per successione nel fidecommisso istituto da Alemanno Venerosi dei conti di Strido, assunse il titolo comitale, e la R. Consulta Araldica, con Decreto presidenziale del 21 ottobre 1870, riconobbe tale titolo, senza predicato. Gli Agostini sono ascritti al Patriziato di Pisa fino dal 27 maggio 1754.
