Antica famiglia patrizia milanese. Ottenne la conferma della nobiltà con Sovrana Risoluzione 21 novembre 1816 a favore di Luigi, di Giuseppe, di Felice. La genealogia accertata ha per capostipite Eriprando (deced. 1609), che fu marito di Bianca Brebbia, in memoria della quale e per distinguersi dagli altri V., la famiglia aggiunse al proprio il cognome Brebbia e ne inquartò le armi. Da Eriprando nacque Cristoforo, vivente nel 1646, il quale sposò Ottavia del Maino e ne ebbe Carlo Francesco. Da questo e da Emilia Targone, sua moglie, venne in luce Antonio,che fu suo marito di Barbara Pallavicino e padre di Felice. Da Felice nacque Giuseppe Cristoforo o Giuseppe, iscritto nell'Elenco dei patrizi milanesi nel 1769 (Felice Calvi, Il patriziato milanese, Milano 1875, pag. 447). Andrea attraversante di argento, accompagnata in capo da una lettera maiuscola B dello stesso e in punta da una R maiuscola d'oro. Cimiero: Il biscione d'azzurro come nel campo, ma uscente e alato dello stesso.
