La famiglia è originaria da Petritoli (Ascoli Piceno), e se ne hanno notizie fin dal sec. XVII, epoca nella quale viveva un Giovanni Filippo, ed è stata sempre qualificata per nobile. Venne a stabilirsi a Fermo con Giovanni, di Pasquale Marone, che sposò la nobile Maria Teresa Rosati, figlia unica ed ereditaria del conte Ludovico Rosati, ultimo di sua famiglia. Questa, con atto di donazione dell'11 novembre 1815, imponeva ai suoi discendenti l'obbligo di aggiungere il cognome Rosati, di inquartare lo stemma di sua famiglia e di assumere tutti i diritti di sua casa. La famiglia fu ascritta al patriziato di S. Marino con diploma del 28 agosto 1842. La famiglia è antichissima di Fermo. Si ricorda un Francesco, che militava per i veneziani nel secolo XIII.
