Un codice manoscritto, redatto sulle famiglie illustri della nobile città di Venezia, attesta che i membri della casata Zentranigi furono antichi tribuni e conferirono lustro alla Repubblica, donandole un doge nella persona di messer Pietro. Questi, secondo la narrazione del medesimo codice, dopo quattro anni e sei mesi di governo, fu deposto dall’alto ufficio dogale e, con la sua caduta, si estinse altresì la stirpe nel millecentodiciotto. Tuttavia, consultando con diligenza le cronologie venete, non si rinviene tra i dogi il nome del suddetto Pietro, il che getta un’ombra di incertezza sulle asserzioni del manoscritto.
