AGLIARDI

Agliardi is typical of the Bergamo area, of Morengo, Costa Volpino and Romano Di Lombardia, of the Brescia of Montichiari and Brescia and of Milan, it should derive from a dialectal form of the name Aleardus (see ALEARDI), but it is also possible, although not probable, a derivation from the name Galiardus for apheresis. Traces of this surname in the Bergamo area are to be found at least from the second half of the 1600s with the judge of the Italian wine-shops Camillo Agliardi.
