Alessi is widespread throughout Italy, Alessio has stocks in northern Italy and in the south, especially in Calabria, Alesso, quite rare, has a stock in western Piedmont and one in Sicily, derived from the Latin name of Greek Byzantine origin Alexius, of which we have an example in Virgil's ecloghe: "...
