ALGHISI | ALGHISIO | ALGISI

Alghisi, typical of the brescans, Alghisio, absolutely astonishing, dovrebbe avere le stesse origini, Algisi and specific of bergamasco, derive all of the medieval middle name Alghisius from which we received a phrase in the Diplomatic Code of the medieval Lombardy in a distance of 1174 in Lodi: "MCLXXIIII , VII die mensis madii, index VII. In present Alberni Domni, Episcopal Laudensis, and Ottonis Morena, iudicis et tunc consulis Laude ... ... Albertus et Homobonus de Luviraga et Alghisius de Vignathe dant conditium episcopatui ... "; I try to find this cognomen in the second half of 1500, in which "Alchisi sive Alghisi Frate Camillus Angelus" would be created. Integration provided by Giovanni Vezzelli Alghisi and a surname Lombardo coming from the germanic name Algis (Förstemann, Altdeutsches Namenbuch, I, 167), brief form of Athalgis format from 'athal' = nobile + 'gis / gisil' = lancia.
