Etymological origin of Italian surname: Allio

Allio has a stock in the Cuneo area, in Paesana, Sanfront, Revello and Saluzzo, and a very small one in Messina, it could derive from the medieval Provencal name Aliot, but it is also possible that it may be an Italianization of the French hypocoristic form Allion, a variant of Elliot, which is a diminutive of the name Elia.
