ALTAMORE

Altamore is decidedly Sicilian, from Caltagirone, Grammichele and Catania in the Catania area, from Giuliana, Roccamena and Palermo in the Palermo area and from Gela and Niscemi in the province of Naples, it should be an Italianization of the Norman name Aldamor, but it cannot be excluded that it may derive from a Italianization of the Germanic name Waldemar, both of these names have the same origin.
