AMBESI

Ambesi has a stock in Ventimiglia in the Imperia area and one in the Reggio area of Molochio and Careri, of obscure etymological origin, for the Ligurian lineage it is possible to assume a derivation from a nickname originated from the term celta ambes (rivers), while for the Calabrese stock it could hypothesize a correlation with the Germanic medieval word ambaht (guide, emissary, procurator), even if the hypothesis is very implausible.
