Andalore, which seems to be unique, is probably due to an incorrect transcription of Andaloro, which, typically Sicilian, has strains in the Messina area, in particular in Milazzo, Messina, Caltanissetta, Palermo and Catania, and which could derive from an apheretic form Italianate of the Lombard name Auriwandalus or of the Gothic Vandalarius, or of the apheresis of the name Wandalor of which we have an example of use in a deed of gift of 1078: ".. de meo comitali fisco orto illum qui est inparochia ecclesiae illius quae dicitur Wandalor . Dedi quoque similiter ibidem casale ubi custos sive ortolanus possit ibi iugiter manere .. ".
