Etymological origin of Italian surname: Anello

ANELLO

Typical of Sicily and southern Calabria, it should derive from a contraction of the name Aniello (cf.) of which we have an example in the 1500s with the scholar Salerno Anellus Sanvitus, traces of this surname can be found in Philadelphia (VV) in the 1700s, among the citizens belonging to the 2nd class are four Ring families.
