Etymological origin of Italian surname: Aracri

Aracri has a stock in Naples and Pozzuoli in Naples and one in Calabria in Crotone in Crotone, Cutro and Rocca di Neto, with presences also in Catanzaro in Catanzaro and Girifalco, it should derive from dialectal alterations of the Greek name Eràclios (dedicated to Hercules) , but it is also possible to refer to a provenance from the Greek city of Ηράκλειον Herakleion, the name of the city of Candia on the island of Crete, which was Venetian until 1669, the year of the conquest and Turkish invasion of the island, with a consequent flight towards the Italy of Italic and Greek refugees, especially towards the safest Tyrrhenian and Ionian coasts of the West.
