Ascente, very very rare, is typical of the area of San Giorgio Albanese (CS), Ascenti, absolutely rare, is Calabrese, Ascenzi has a stock in the Piceno and one in Lazio, especially in the Roman and in the frusinate, Ascenzio, very very rare, has a very small stock in the Pescara area and one in the Neapolitan area, Ascenzo is typical of the Pescara area, D'Ascenzi is decidedly from Lazio, Rome and Lariano in the Roman area, Ferentino in the frusinate, Valentano in the Viterbo area and Borgorose and Fara in Sabina in the rietino, D'Ascenzio has a very small stock in Rome and Santa Marinella in Rome and one in Naples, D'Ascenzo is specific to the area covered by the provinces of Rome, Rieti, Campobasso and the entire Abruzzo, De Ascentis, extremely rare, would seem to area between Marche and Abruzzo, De Ascentiis has a stock in Rome and in Teramo in Abruzzo, in Nereto, Giulianova and Teramo, all these surnames should derive from the medieval name Ascentius (Assenzio), anciently attributed to children born on the day of Asc ension of Jesus Christ to heaven, fixed by the Catholic liturgy the Thursday following the fifth Sunday after Easter, of the use of these names we have an example in Tuscany in 1500: "... Peritissimus erat Ascentius Senensis in musica, onusque Magisterii Cappellae pluribus in civitatibus, et praecipue in Metropolitana Sen. retinuit ... ". additions provided by Giovanni Vezzelli Ascente is a Calabrian surname that should mean 'exempt'.
