Etymological origin of Italian surname: Auxilia

AUXILIA

Auxilia, absolutely rare, would seem typical of the Neapolitan, it could derive from the Latin cognomen Auxilius, Auxilia, but much more probably it is a surname attributed to abandoned children placed under the protection of Mary Help of Christians. (see also AIDS)
