Bargelli seems to have a stock in Massa Marittima (GR), one in Florence and one in Perugia, Bargellini has a lineage in Florence and Pistoia and one in the Rimini area, Baricelli, has a small Lombard stock, one from Genoa and one from Lecce, Barricelli is typically from Campania of Benevento and Macerata Campania, Portico of Caserta and Santa Maria Capua Vetere in the Caserta area, and of Serrara Fontana and Naples in the Neapolitan dialect, they should all derive, directly or through hypocoristic or alterations, from the medieval term bargello (police magistrate or commander of the guards ). We find traces of these surnames in the Livorno area in the 1400s with the Counts Bargellini.
