CACCAVO | CACCAVO' | CACCAVONE

Caccavo has a Campanian stock in Naples, Salerno and Pontecagnano Faiano always in the Salerno area, a stock in Barile in the Potentino and one in Giovinazzo and Canosa Di Puglia in the Bari area and in Foggia, Caccavò is almost unique and is probably due to transcription errors in the registry offices of the north, Caccavone would seem to be specific of Serracapriola in the Foggia area, they should derive from nicknames originating from the Campanian word caccavo (pot), perhaps referring to the use of these large pots in the monasteries that distributed soups for the poor every day and then to classify the progenitor as a beggar.
