Cais is typical of the Treviso area, of Conegliano, San Pietro di Feletto and Santa Lucia di Piave, of obscure origin it could be a dialectal form derived from the Latin nomen Caius, according to some it derives instead from the term callis (the small narrow streets between the houses) and would indicate a citizen origin of the progenitor.
