CALÀ

Typical Sicilian, in particular from Nyssa, could derive from a nickname originating from the Greek word kalon (beautiful, good). We find the illustrious traces of this surname in 1200 in Martirano (CZ) with Giovanni and Enrico Calà in the wake of Emperor Henry VI, in the Cilento in 1600 when the Calà family became the feudal lord of the Sassano (SA) and Canna ( CS).
