CALCOPIETRO

Calcopietro a typically Calabrian surname of the Reggio, of Polistena in particular, could derive from an ancient nickname based on the Greek word chalcòs (copper), perhaps to indicate in the progenitor a copper craftsman named Pietro, but it is also possible an apheretic derivation from the medieval term scalco (servant), in turn derived from the medieval Germanic scalh (servant), and it would then be a founder known as the servant Pietro.
