Calian, absolutely rare, is specific to the southern part of the province of Verona, Caliani, very rare, typical of the Siena area, Caliano, very rare, typical of the Campania region of Montoro (AV), one of which is called Caliano, derived from the Latin cognomen Calianus of which we have an example in an ancient Latin inscription of the 2nd century AD: "... M (arcus) Valerius Speratus - L (ucius) Aemilius Calianus cor (nicen) - T (itus) Flavius Surus act (uarius) leg (ionis) ... "either directly or through toponyms with this name as Caliano di Capolona (AR).
