CALIFANI | CALIFANO | CALIFFI | CALIFFO

Califani, practically unique is a transcription error of Califano which is typical of Campania, with a stock in the Potentino and one in Lazio, Califfi and Califfo are absolutely rare, they should all derive from the Arabic name Khalifa derived in turn from the homonymous term (in Italian the caliph), which identifies the supreme head of the country, the vicar of the king, the podestà.
