Camaioni is well rooted in the area that includes Teramo and Piceno, in the Piceno in San Benedetto del Tronto, Ascoli Piceno, Spinetoli and Monsampolo del Tronto and in Teramo in Martin Sicuro, Sant`Omero, Alba Adriatica and Nereto, with a small secondary lineage also in Rome, could derive from the toponym Camaioni of Montelupo Fiorentino in the Florentine, or from the homonymous toponym in the Prato area, in 1260, after the battle of Montaperti which marked the defeat of the Florentine Guelphs, many Guelphs emancipated in more friendly lands because under the papal dominion.
