CAMANA | CAMANINI

Camana is absolutely rare, probably from the area that includes the Novara area, and the Varese area, Camanini is of Brescia origin. The derivation of these surnames is complex, given the location, it should derive from a Swiss place name, Val Camana in the Canton Ticino, but there is also a theory that makes them derive from the Spanish toponym Camanas, a Spanish mountain village in the province of Teruel in Aragon. For the surname Camanini, a theory has been proposed to us by an interested party that would derive from the name of the Camonica valley, therefore deriving from the ethnic Camuni, a people who gave the name to that valley.
