ACANFORA | CANFORA

Acanfora is typical of Scafati in the Salerno area with also Neapolitan strains in Boscoreale, Naples, Castellammare di Stabia and Pompeii, Canfora is specific to the Neapolitan, especially to Naples, but also to Pozzuoli, Nola and Ercolano and also has a Sicilian stock at Tortorici Messina, the origin of these surnames is obscure, we find traces of these surnames in Naples in a deed of 1610 where Giovanni: Battista De Acamphora, debtor of Corte, is mentioned in the Judgment.
