Etymological origin of Italian surname: Carancini

CARANCINI

Carancini would seem to be from the Marches, from the area between Macerata and Ancona, from Macerata, Montecassiano and Recanati in the Macerata area, and from Filottrano, Osimo and Ancona in the Ancona area, it could derive from a hypocoristic word for the term celta karuos (deer), but much more probably it derives from the late Latin name of Cantabrian origin Carancinus (perhaps arrived through a veteran of the Hispanic legions of Pompey).
