Cardi is widespread in the centronord, especially in the Ferrara, Bolognese, Florentine and Roman and Latin dialect, Cardo has a Campanian stock, in Circello in the Benevento area and in Naples and San Giuseppe Vesuviano in the Neapolitan dialect, and an Apulian stock in the Bari area in Barletta and Monopoli, both should derive from apheretic forms of the Germanic name Riccardo.
