Carella, extremely widespread in Puglia, but with stocks also in the Palermo, Naples and Rome, Carelli is a surname of the south, there seem to be two stocks, one in the province of Cosenza and the other in the province of Bari, Carello. quite rare, it has a stock in the Catanzaro area and one in the Turin area, they should have originated from the medieval name Carella, Carellus (pretty). Among the prominent figures we mention the painter Domenico Carella (1721-1813).
