Etymological origin of Italian surname: Carrau

Carai is typical of northern Sardinia, of Torpè and Nuoro in the Nuoro area, Carau, surely Sardinian is absolutely rare, Carrau, very very rare is typical of Zerfaliu in the Oristano area, there are three surnames deriving from cara (see CARA), with the meaning of de cara bella (good looking), an attribute probably referable to the founders thanks to their physical prowess and not only to their face. additions provided by Nazzarena Carrau the surname Carrau is present only currently in the Municipality of Zerfaliu. My research dates back to the early 1600s and is mainly concentrated in the Municipality of Siamanna. The transfer of the progenitor of the Zerfalian Carrau took place in the year 1826, from which the present family originated. Traces of the Carrau left in Siamanna have been lost.
