Carulli has an Abruzzese stock, especially in Theatine and Teramo, and one from Puglia in the Bari area in particular, with small stocks also in the Neapolitan, in the Potentino and in the Messina and Catania areas, Carullo has a Roman stock, one in Orsogna and Giuliano Teatino in Theatine , one in Avellino, Monteforte Irpino and Aiello del Sabato in the Avellino area, in Naples and Sant'Angelo d'Alife in the Caserta area, a small stock in Martirano in the Catanzaro area and in Polistena in the Reggio area, and an equally small one in Sicily in Palermo and in Forza d'Agrò in the Messina area, they should derive from the late Latin cognomen Carullus, a hypocoristic form of the more widespread cognomen Carus (see CARO).
