CASCAVILLA | CASCAVILLO

Cascavilla is specific of the Foggia area, of San Giovanni Rotondo in particular of Foggia, Manfredonia and Cerignola, with a strain also in Bisceglie, Cascavillo, very very rare, specific of San Severo in the Foggia area, is probably due to a transcription error of the previous one, which should derive from an Italianization of the Occitan surname Cascailh, which also gave rise to the Spanish surname of Cascavilla in Spain, according to others it derives instead from the name of a type of plum so called, specific to the Gargano area, but we consider it not very likely this type of thesis.
