CASSANELLI | CASSANELLO

Cassanelli has a strain in the Milanese, one between Modena and Bologna and one in the Bari area, Cassanello, very very rare, is typical of the Genoese, with a secondary stock in Cagliari, deriving from toponyms such as: Cassano d'Adda (MI), Cassano delle Murge (BA), Cassano Spinola (AL), Cassano (MO), is also possible, although not very likely to derive in some cases from a diminutive of the late Latin name Cassianus.
