CASTRICIANO

Castriciano is typical of Messina, it could be an ethnic form of municipalities like Castroreale in Messina, but it is also possible that they derive instead from a medieval fundus castricianus whose traces have been lost, that is of the rural property of a Castricius, one does not it can exclude, even if really unlikely, a derivation from the late Latin term castrucianus (small stye).
