CATALINI | CATTALINI

Catalini is typical of the Marches, in the province of Macerata, Cattalini seems to have a stock between the provinces of Sondrio and Brescia and one of the provinces of Reggio and Lucca, they should derive from modifications of the name Catalina, a variant of the name Caterina. We find traces of this surname in a document dated 1 February 1481 written in Mombasiglio (CN): "... Actum in transposition Montisbaxili in quadam domo Antonii Catalini ..." and in 1600 in Civago (RE) with don Giacomo Cattalini. additions provided by Giacomo Ganza / Villa di Tirano (SO) Cattalini has been present in the area of Tirano (SO) for at least three centuries. Catalini was written up until the 1800s. Several Cattalini have emigrated in the last two centuries from the Tirano district to the United States, Argentina, Brazil and Australia.
