Etymological origin of Italian surname: Catarinicchia

CATARINICCHIA | CATERINICCHIA

Catarinicchia, very rare, is specific to Palermo, Cinisi, Palermo and Terrasini, with a lineage also in Alcamo in the Trapani area, Caterinicchia, which would seem unique, is probably due to a transcription error of the previous one, which should derive from a hypocoristic form Sicilian dialectal of the medieval name Catharina derived from the Greek katharòs (pure).
