Cattin has a stock in Vicenza and Piazzola sul Brenta in the Padua area and one in the Rovigoto area in Porto Tolle, Porto Viro, Ceregnano and Rovigo, Cattini is decidedly Emilian, from the Reggio area of Modena in particular Carpi and Modena in the Modena area and Correggio and Reggio Emilia in the Reggio area, Cattino, absolutely rare, would seem to be due to errors of transcription of the previous one, Catto, typically Venetian, of the Venetian in particular, should derive, directly or through hypocoristic forms, even dialectal, from the medieval name Gactus, but it is also possible a derivation from the Longobard word hatto (combatant) (see Cat).
