Cavalazzi, very rare, with a stock in Milan and one in Emilia, should be an altered form of the surname Cavallazzi which has a small stock in Bologna, Imola, Anzola dell'Emilia and Bologna and one between Milanese and Pavia in Milan and Rosate in the Milanese and Cilavegna in Pavia, they should derive from the medieval name Cavalatius of which we have an example in 1100 with a Cavalatius iudex novarensis, we find traces of these surnames in the 1250 with the Bishop of Novara Sigebaldo Cavallazzi and at the end of the XIIIth century with Englesio Cavallazzi also bishop of Novara.
