CAVALCABO'

Extremely rare, probably of Lombard origin, it derives from a nickname (cavalca buoi), a noble family of baronial rank. We find in the oath of allegiance to the city of Piacenza of 1141: "... aliam medietatem a comune Placentie per foedum tener debent; et si marchiones filii Malespine val Cavalcabo aut mark Pelavicinus vel Gerardus de Cornazano predictos homines de valle Tarii placitare voluerint, .. . ", in 1313 commander of the Guelph faction and lord of Cremona is a Cavalcabò, Girolamo Cavalcabo in 1580 leaves us a text on fencing, in 1600 there is a writer Hieronimo Cavalcabò, in 1773 Catherine IIa of Russia sends as his representative to Malta a Marquis Cavalcabò
