Etymological origin of Italian surname: Cavasin


CAVASIN

Cavasin is specific to Trevisano, it should derive from the toponym Cavasio del Tomba (TV), a trace of this surname is found towards the end of the 12th century with Gualperto da Cavasio, captain of the Trevigiani, but well before as we can read in an act of sale of the 1119 preserved in the state archives of Treviso we find one of his names: "... Constat nos Ubertum et Ripertum germanos filios q. (Uondam) Pellegrini de Spineto, here professed sumus ex natione nostra Longobarda, accepisse sicut in praesentia testium accepimus to you Valperte de Cavasio inter argentum et aliam rem ... ".
