Cavern, almost unique, seems to have had a Piedmontese and Sicilian stock, Caverni has a Tuscan lineage in Florence, Florence, Montelupo Fiorentino, Empoli, Scandicci, Montespertoli and Lastra a Signa, and Prato, and one in the Marche, in Fano from Pesaro and from Ancona, could derive from the Italianization of the French surname Caverne, which derives from the name of several French localities.
