Etymological origin of Italian surname: Cavriani

CAVRIANI

Cavriani has some presence, almost certainly secondary, in the Alessandria area and a small stock between Rovigoto and Ferrara, in Stienta and Occhiobello in the Rovigoto and Ferrara, it should derive from a nickname based on the archaic Venetian dialect word cavria (tool to tree and disarm the sailboats, useful for overcoming stretches of river with bridges too low), probably indicating that the founders were involved in that type of maneuver.
